‎Nigerian Widower Sparks Outrage After Seeking New Partner Weeks Before Wife’s Burial.


‎A Nigerian man, Ubong Uwak , has come under fire on social media after seeking a new relationship just weeks before the burial of his late wife, Glory Ubong Uwak .


‎Ubong, aged 41, made the controversial move on July 9, 2025 , by posting in a popular Christian singles Facebook group, declaring his interest in meeting a "God-fearing sister"—even as preparations continued for his wife's burial scheduled for August 1 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State .


‎Just eleven days later, on July 20 , Ubong took to his personal Facebook page to share an obituary flyer and mourn his late wife, writing:

‎The couple reportedly married in 2020 and had no children. The cause of Glory’s death remains unclear .


‎However, Ubong’s online activities sparked a storm of criticism, with many users questioning the timing of his relationship search and the authenticity of his grief.

‎One user, Sandra Okereke , voiced her concern:


‎Others labeled Ubong’s move as insensitive , with some calling for a deeper look into the circumstances surrounding Glory’s death. Meanwhile, a minority defended him, citing his right to move on with life and find healing.

‎As the burial date approaches, the controversy continues to fuel conversation online about grief, timing, and cultural expectations in mourning.

‎The family has not released an official statement regarding the public backlash.
