Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of actor Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, popularly known as CJay Nwoks.
Actress and producer Nkechi Blessing Sunday announced the tragic news on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, sharing an emotional video from a hospital in Badore, Lagos, where she said the actor had been confirmed dead.
Visibly devastated, Nkechi struggled to contain her emotions as she broke the news to fans and colleagues. In a heartfelt tribute, she wrote: “Cjay, this was never the plan.”
Following his sudden passing, Nkechi also cancelled the scheduled 5:00 p.m. release of her upcoming movie, Egusi Ogbono, in which CJay Nwoks reportedly played the lead role.
CJay Nwoks, whose real name was Chijioke Temidayo Nwokafor, was an actor and model who became professionally active in Nollywood in the early 2020s. Film records list him in productions including Doctor Lanre, Come Alive, Tide and Godly Escort, among others.
He was also associated with several recent Nollywood productions, with film databases listing him across more than 20 movie projects.
The actor was reportedly from Awka, Anambra State, and based in Lagos. Beyond acting and modelling, he was also involved in entrepreneurship.
As of the time of this report, the cause and circumstances of CJay Nwoks’ death have not been publicly disclosed by his family or representatives.
His death has sparked an outpouring of grief among colleagues and fans, with further details about tributes and funeral arrangements expected to emerge.
