God Is Good Motors, one of Nigeria’s leading transport companies, has come under intense public criticism following the introduction of a ₦75,000 fare for passengers travelling from Lagos to Benin City.
The newly announced fare has triggered widespread outrage among commuters, many of whom have condemned the increase as excessive and unjustifiable. Critics argue that the hike places an additional burden on Nigerians already grappling with rising living costs.
The controversy gained national attention after social media influencer Albert Obazee drew public focus to the issue in a viral video, in which he accused the transport company of engaging in exploitative pricing practices. His remarks sparked a flood of reactions online, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns.
Several passengers, particularly those who frequently travel on the Lagos–Benin route, have called on the company’s management to immediately reverse the fare increase. They insist that the current road conditions along the corridor do not support such a sharp rise in transport costs.
According to some commuters, persistent fare hikes by transport operators are worsening the economic hardship faced by ordinary citizens. They urged God Is Good Motors to adopt a more considerate approach by prioritising the welfare of low-income travellers.
