The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) watched with dismay the recorded extra judicial killing of a Delta youth by police officers in a viral video. The principal culprit was identified as ASP Nuhu Usman, who acted in gross violation of Force Order 237 and other extant regulations governing the use of firearms. PANDEF strongly condemn such extra judicial killing of Deltans. We, however, commend the Inspection General of Police, Tunde Disu, for the swift investigation and internal review which led to the dismissal of all the indicted officers. PANDEF call for further investigation of the claim by the mother of the deceased that her senior son was killed in like manner. We equally demand the transfer of the case file back to Delta State for diligent prosecution. Meanwhile, PANDEF appeals to our youths to continue to remain calm and go about their normal activities.
