Pastor Komaiya Demands Apology From Detained Delta Cleric

Pastor Korede Komaiya of The Master’s Place International Church has set conditions for the release of Apostle Festus Alilu, the detained senior pastor of Word of Power Gospel Church in Ughelli, Delta State.

Alilu was arrested on Thursday, March 20, after accusing Komaiya of misleading followers with prosperity teachings. The arrest followed a video posted on Alilu’s Facebook, where he claimed Komaiya exploited congregants by promoting financial success through tithes and offerings.

A source revealed on Friday, March 21, that Komaiya has demanded Alilu record a public apology and share it online before the matter can be dropped. Alilu would also be required to preach the apology in his church.

Alilu’s video, which referenced human rights activist Omoyele Sowore’s criticism of Nigerian prosperity preachers, argued that such teachings were damaging to the Christian community.

While some supported Alilu’s stance, others criticized him for publicly challenging a fellow pastor.
