The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday declared a Lagos-based businesswoman, Uyime Akpan, wanted following her alleged involvement in a ₦28.5 million fraud case.
The order was granted following an application by the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Milverton Road, Ikoyi.
Justice Friday Ogazi presided over the proceedings, granting the prayers of the PSFU after considering an ex parte motion marked FHC/L/MISC/1410/2025, as argued by the counsel for the PSFU, M. Y. Bello.
The court’s decision effectively places Akpan on the official wanted list of the Nigeria Police Force.
Furthermore, the court granted leave for the PSFU to publish her name, photograph, and details in national daily newspapers and across various social media platforms to facilitate her apprehension.
During the proceedings, Bello informed the court that the suspect had been on the run, making it necessary to involve wider security agencies.
Consequently, the suit listed the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), and the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) as co-respondents.
In his submission, Bello supported the application with an affidavit, a written address, and several documentary exhibits outlining the preliminary findings of the ₦28.5 million investigation.
He emphasised that the orders were crucial for the purpose of securing the suspect’s arrest and possible prosecution.
In his ruling, Justice Ogazi held, “After hearing M.Y. Bello, Esq., counsel to the applicant, move in terms of the motion paper, and having carefully considered the application and submission of counsel, there is merit in granting the reliefs sought.
