‎Police Rescue Five Abducted Students of Rivers Varsity.


‎The police in Rivers State have confirmed that five students of Rivers State University (RSU) who were kidnapped recently have been freed.

‎The victims were abducted from an off-campus residence at one of RSU’s satellite campuses in Emuoha LGA in the early hours of Tuesday.

‎A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed that the rescue operation took place on Thursday morning in Rumudogo 2 Community, Emuoha Local Government Area.

‎The statement pointed out that the Command tactical teams led the operation in collaboration with other security agencies and with support from the local community.

‎It identified the rescued students, four males and one female, as Prince London, Azubuike Kelechukwu, Elizabeth Aniete, Onyebuchi Precious, and London Sampson.

‎According to the police, they were abducted by unidentified cultists from their isolated residences but were rescued unharmed.

‎The police spokesperson said that the students have been taken to the hospital for medical checks, while “efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing abductors.

‎Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Commissioner, Olugbenga Adepoju, warned the perpetrators that they would “face the full force of the law” and called for continued cooperation from security agencies, the community, and the public.

‎He assured residents that they can carry out their daily activities safely, as their security remains a priority.
