The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the redeployment and appointment of several senior officers across key positions in the Nigerian Army to enhance leadership and operational effectiveness.
The redeployments include Principal Staff Officers at Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, and Commandants of training institutions, among others.
notable appointments include Maj Gen AA Adeyinka as Chief of Logistics, Maj Gen AA Adekeye as Chief of Personnel Management, and Maj Gen TB Ugiagbe as Chief of Standard and Evaluation.
Also, Maj Gen EA Anaryu was appointed Corps Commander Supply and Transport, while Maj Gen SA Akesode is heading to the African Union Verification Mission in Ethiopia.
The statement highlighted that some officers were assigned to units involved in operations against insurgency and terrorism, such as Operation Fansan Yamma and Sector 1 Joint Task Force.
The COAS urged the newly appointed officers to intensify their efforts in the ongoing fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other threats to national security, emphasizing the importance of commitment and dedication.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced the successful completion of a five-day Civilian Harm Mitigation (CHM) in Air Operations course for its first batch of selected officers.
This training underscores NAF’s commitment to protecting civilians in conflict zones through a multidisciplinary approach.
The course, conducted by the Air Warfare and Doctrine Centre (AWDC), covered topics such as International Humanitarian Law, Rules of Engagement, Target Identification, and protocols for engaging sensitive targets.
Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar emphasized that protecting civilians is a professional and moral imperative and that the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response Action Plan (CHMR-AP) has already contributed to a reduction in collateral damage incidents.
