Ghanaian rapper Guru has opened up about putting his university education on hold to fully pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
In an interview on Hitz FM, Guru disclosed that he was in Level 200 at university when he decided to defer his course after his music career began gaining momentum.
The decision was not easy for him, as his mother had always hoped he would complete his degree. “My mum always wanted this for me. I was in Level 200, but I deferred when I entered showbiz,” he said.
Despite prioritizing music at the time, Guru revealed that his mother’s wish to see him graduate has remained close to his heart. He also noted that returning to school to finish his degree is still a personal goal.
The rapper’s candid revelation highlights the challenges young talents face in balancing higher education with demanding careers in the creative arts, especially when success comes early.
Fans and followers have since taken to social media to commend Guru for his transparency, with many encouraging entertainers to pursue education alongside their craft whenever possible.
