…Senator Condemns Abduction, Says Oyo Can’t Bleed While 47 Others Remain in Captivity
Oyo Central APC senatorial candidate, Senator Yunus Akintunde, has called on security agencies to launch an immediate manhunt for the kidnappers of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, abducted in Ibadan in the early hours of Wednesday.
In a statement he personally signed, Akintunde condemned the 7:30 a.m. attack on Mrs. John-Paul, a younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, describing the ugly development as “barbaric and unacceptable”.
He demanded swift action to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
“This latest incident is a painful reminder that our people are no longer safe. I urge our security agencies to go after these criminals with everything at their disposal and bring Mrs. John-Paul and her twins home unharmed,” Akintunde said.
The senator noted that while federal and state governments are still working to secure the release of 47 persons, including teachers and students, kidnapped at Ahoro Esinle, the Wednesday abduction shows kidnapping is escalating in Oyo State.
“Government at both levels must treat this as a state of emergency. We cannot normalize this level of violence. Enough is enough,” he added.
Akintunde sympathized with Chief Adelabu and the entire family, urging citizens to support security operations with credible information while avoiding speculation that could endanger the victims.
