‎Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) and Operation Zafin Wuta in Taraba State, have arrested a suspected kidnapper in Wukari Local Government Area.

‎Acting on credible intelligence, the troops apprehended the suspect, identified as Umar Musa Geyi, on 22 November 2025 at the Jandei–Kulamu area of Wukari while he was allegedly negotiating a ₦20 million ransom with relatives of an abducted victim.

‎According to the Army spokesperson, Lieutenant Umar Mohammed, Geyi has long been on the wanted list of security agencies, adding that he is believed to belong to a kidnapping syndicate terrorising communities around the Wukari axis.

‎Preliminary investigations, Mohammed said, linked the suspect to the abduction of one Alhaji Jano, a Fulani resident of the Jandei–Kulala area, who was kidnapped on 13 November 2025 and remains in captivity.

‎He explained that troops closed in on the suspect after intercepting him during a phone conversation in which he allegedly confirmed that the victim was still being held and insisted on a ₦20 million ransom before release.

‎The spokesperson added that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing intensive interrogation to aid efforts to locate the victim and support ongoing rescue operations.

‎Reacting to the development, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, hailed the troops for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Brigade’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks across Taraba State.
