The South-South women organization has put every machinery in place to ensure a hitch free celebration of her 20 years anniversary scheduled to hold on the 13th December at Jeco College in Owode-Onirin, Ikorodu Lagos.
The PRO of the group, Mrs Benice Yonlonfun stated this while having a chat with some selected Journalists as part of the programme of the celebration.
She noted that the organization was founded on the 7th of August 2005, by their Grand patron, comrade Joseph Evah at the Ijaw monitoring group headquarters in Lagos, stressing that the organization started with the name "Women in south-south (WISS)", later changed to the present name under the leadership of late Chief Mrs Vickie Djevwudu.
She explained that the vision and objectives of the formation of the organization is to ensure that the average south-south woman is at par with her counterpart in other geopolitical zones.
The organization services include, rendering humanitarian services where necessary and visitation to orphanage homes, prisons and others.
She noted that, the organization is also creating awareness among women especially the girl child to focus on education and avoid pregnancy at tender age, while counseling her on the dangers of commicable diseases such as HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
She said, the celebration is going to be a mind blowing ceremony as some of the discussions will center on how to empower, create awareness on some of the benefit of being financially independent through skill acquisition, hairdressing, tailoring, baking,computer training etc.
