The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan has denied the bail requests of Naomi Silekunola, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, and Abdullahi Fasasi, the Principal of Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan.

Justice Olawoyin, who presided over Court 8 at Ring Road, Ibadan, adjourned Naomi’s case until next week, following a request from the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo State, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo, SAN, for additional time to complete investigations.According to a source at the court, “The court denied the bail application for Naomi and the school principal because the Attorney General requested more time for the investigation process.”
In the meantime, the court is expected to rule on the bail application of Oriyomi Hamzat, the proprietor of Agidigbo FM. Hamzat, along with Naomi and Fasasi, is also under investigation for their roles in the events leading up to the stampede at the ill-fated party held at the Islamic High School in Bashorun, Ibadan.
Court proceedings resumed on Tuesday under heavy security, with Prof. Oyewo leading the prosecution team.
