‎Surgeon Sacked over Unauthorized Kidney Removal at Ekiti University Hospital.


‎The Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) has dismissed a surgeon for removing a patient’s kidney without consent.

‎The state’s Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, confirmed the dismissal.

‎The incident came to light when kidney transplant recipient Joshua Afolayan reported that his organ had been taken without his knowledge.

‎EKSUTH acted swiftly, terminating the surgeon’s employment and launching an investigation into the breach of medical ethics.

‎The case has sparked concerns about patient safety and surgical consent, prompting calls for stricter oversight in healthcare institutions
