‎‎Tragic Christmas Eve Blast Rocks Maiduguri Mosque; Many Feared Dead


‎Panic gas gripped Maiduguri, Borno State, after a devastating explosion tore through a crowded mosque on Wednesday evening.
‎It was gathered that the explosion left several worshippers feared dead and many others injured just hours before Christmas Day.

‎The blast occurred at approximately 6:10 p.m. at the Gambarou Jumu’at Mosque in the Customs area of Gamboru Ward.
‎Eyewitnesses report that the explosion went off during the Maghrib (sunset) congregational prayers, a time when the mosque was filled with worshippers.
‎It was also gathered that the blast had already created fear among residents, especially within the Christian community, preparing for the 2025 Christmas celebration.

‎Security operatives have cordoned off the area to prevent further casualties and to allow a preliminary assessment of the incident.
