Wike camp takes control of PDP secretariat in Abuja.

The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken over the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja following its reopening by the Nigeria Police Force.

The development was confirmed in a statement on Saturday by the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed through its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed.

The party leadership warned against any act capable of disrupting activities at the secretariat, stressing that it would not tolerate actions that could lead to a breakdown of law and order.

“The party will not condone any form of obstruction, disruption or breach of peace at the secretariat. Security agencies have been alerted to deal with any violators,” the statement read.

The crisis within the PDP had deepened in November 2025 after rival factions clashed at the party’s national headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, over leadership disputes.

The conflict later resulted in a prolonged legal battle, culminating in a Court of Appeal ruling which reportedly favoured the Wike-aligned faction.

Reacting to the latest development, the Mohammed-led NWC commended the Nigeria Police for enforcing the court decision and restoring access to the secretariat.

“The unsealing of the secretariat reflects respect for the rule of law and due process,” the statement added.

The faction also called on aggrieved members to embrace unity in the interest of the party, assuring that the crisis had been resolved.

It further expressed appreciation to party leaders, particularly Wike, for their support, noting that the party would move forward with renewed commitment.
