“You Are All Thieves” — Brave Woman Stands Up In Church And Disgraces Pastor And Elders.

According to a report by YEN on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, something unusual happened inside Wesley Cathedral Methodist Church in Sunyani that nobody expected. A female church member did what most people only think about but never do — she stood right up in the middle of the service and told the pastor and the elders of the church that they are thieves. Not outside. Not on social media. Right there inside the church building, in front of everybody.

It all began when the pastor took to the pulpit and made a strong statement during his sermon on tithes. He declared that any church member who refuses to pay their tithe is nothing short of an armed robber. He anchored his message on the book of Malachi in the Bible, which describes withholding tithes as robbing God.

That statement did not sit well with one woman in the congregation. She got up from her seat and decided to respond. Her answer was sharp and direct. She told the pastor that the same Bible he was using to judge members also judged him. If refusing to pay tithe makes a person an armed robber, then the Bishop sitting right there and every elder in that church is equally guilty — because of how poorly they treat members when life gets hard.

“It starts from you, Bishop, and all the elders here. You are all armed robbers,” she said without flinching.

What made her even more upset was a reported church policy that quietly punishes members who do not pay tithe. According to her, when a member who has not been paying tithe loses a loved one or faces a serious emergency, the church refuses to offer any financial support. She found this practice deeply wrong and said so without holding back.

Her most powerful moment came when she broke it down with real figures. She asked a simple but painful question — what is the point of giving GH¢5,000 to the church as tithe, only for the church to hand back GH¢500 when your mother is lying in a hospital or when death comes knocking at your door? She said no amount of spiritual pressure would convince her to accept that kind of arrangement
