The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has directed all commands, formations, departments and police training institutions nationwide to urgently submit details of serving personnel who possess advanced academic qualifications, including PhDs, Master’s degrees and Bachelor of Laws (LLB).
The directive, contained in a police wireless message dated September 14, 2026, was marked “MOST/IMMEDIATE” and issued through the Force Secretary’s Office in Abuja.
According to the directive, the affected personnel are specifically inspectors and rank-and-file officers serving across the various commands and formations of the Nigeria Police Force.
The police authorities also requested that the academic qualifications be submitted alongside the officers’ posting signals.
The deadline for compliance was set for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with the Force Secretary stressing the urgency of the request.
The message reportedly stated:
“IGP directs, as a matter of urgency, that you forward a list of inspectors/rank-and-file serving under you who are holders of doctorate degrees, master’s degrees or LLB, in addition to their posting signals, on or before 16/09/2026.”
The directive was circulated to state commands, departments, police colleges and training institutions, with copies sent to the office of the IGP and Commissioners of Police.
